Editing is one of the most important copywriting services we provide. A lot of the time, people have content on their website or brochures, but just want it edited, either to make it more eloquent and readable or to enhance its search-engine optimisation so it is picked up in Google searches.
Either way, we can perform that edit for them. Sometimes it can be ruthless, but if the content comes back looking transformed, succinct and engaging, then you know we've done our job right. For more information about who we have edited and written for, check out our portfolio of clients here.

From a young age we are all taught how to put pen to paper. However, this does not mean everyone can write.
For top-quality content that is engaging, intelligent and thoughtful, as well as being both marketing-driven and connected with search engine processes to help more people see your website, you definitely need a professional. Take a look at what copywriting services we offer and whether you need them for your business! There's a fine line between writing promotional copy to sell a product or service and just making stuff up to make the brand sound better.
I always veer on the side of caution and honesty, and if it can't be backed up with evidence, I leave it out of my copy. A good copywriter will be able to make other areas of your business shine without having to touch on something that might be dishonest. To take a look at the many big-time clients I have written truthful, promotional copy for, click here. It's my birthday today, so I thought I'd pick a quote that was relevant both professionally and personally!
On a business level, I have found it really useful to have former colleagues and friends in the industry who have been able to pass on my details and spread the word about my copywriting services to those who need it. I have also discovered how helpful networking is at finding new clients and also keeping me company on those quiet days (every self-employed person will know what I mean!). On a personal level, without getting too gushy, I have been blessed with the company and support of fantastic friends and family, all of whom have helped me throughout my life. That's why today I'm spending my birthday with two of my favourite people - my husband and my daughter! I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and I'll be back in business next week, older and perhaps just a little wiser. x x x Mother's Day is fast approaching and I hope all mum, nanas, grandmas and guardians out there will be thoroughly spoiled this Sunday (March 6th). Even if you're not, and you still have to do the night feeds, or wake up at the crack of dawn, make the dinner and iron the school clothes, I hope the one thing you feel is loved - because all mums deserve to feel a bit special on this happy day. That's why I've updated my somewhat neglected Diary Of A Mum To Be blog with a post about my hopes for this year's Mother's Day. "Even if the only handmade card I get are the ones I make myself and our cuddles in bed are met with her jumping up and down singing “five little monkeys bouncing on a bed…”, I will still love every moment." At the end of the day, all I really want is a smushy kiss from my baby girl, a little cuddle in bed and maybe fewer tantrums than usual. That'd be nice! (Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no to a relaxing bath, breakfast in bed or a big box of delicious chocolates though…)
Check out my Mother's Day blog here - and if you like the sound of it and would be interested in having me write for your parenting site, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. As I have spent a lot of time networking and meeting new clients in the last couple of weeks, I thought this quote was most relevant.
It certainly drives home the importance of word-of-mouth marketing and maintaining a good reputation among your clients, colleagues and business associates. That way, they can tell everyone else how great you are. I can't emphasise enough the value of organic business growth - from excellent-quality content to being referred to by customers or others in the industry. These things do take time to have an effect, but they are much more impactful and long-lasting than quick marketing strategies. Luckily, it's a field I'm very familiar with, which means I'm able to write my own blogs, produce SEO-driven content for my website and keep on top of my social media accounts without any problem. However, there are lots of different ways to market yourself, and you might have to think outside the box for some of them, particularly if you're targeting a B2B audience. One thing I've found really effective is attending networking events, from small local groups to large industry-led conferences. You don't need a huge crowd to make a difference, as just one or two people picking up your business card or getting engrossed in a chat with you can lead to more custom - especially if they then recommend you to their clients and business associates too. Recently (admittedly, this was a couple of weeks ago but I haven't had time to blog on it since - oops!), I attended a great little networking event run by a group for female businesswomen called Handbags & Briefcases. I found the social marketing session really informative, helping me with my business, and also giving me even more ideas and management tools to help other companies with their content provision, including social media, blogs, e-letters and SEO web content. They run workshops every month, allowing ladies to meet up to network with other small firms, as well as gain some valuable skills to improve their enterprise. Of course, it also gives them the opportunity to talk to other people too - self-employment can be very isolating after all! The next one is on PR, which is definitely a subject that could help businesses of all sizes. And I'm not going to lie, the tea, biscuits and lovely chats with like-minded people all make it enjoyable too! To find out more about how content marketing can help your business grow, click here. This week's quote is simply about perseverance and the ruthless determination small businesses and those who work for themselves must have. Working with small companies and being self-employed myself, I strive to provide the best content I can to give us all the greatest chance of success.
For more information on my copywriting services, take a look at my portfolio. I chose this for the quote of the week, as I often get asked to create websites for businesses. While I can transform your site, improve your SEO performance, write enticing content that will get people to share your pages on their social media accounts, attract new visitors, boost repeat users and lengthen the amount of time people stay on your website, thereby increasing the chance of them buying something or hiring you, I am not a designer.
Just like a web designer cannot produce adequate content for a website that will a) be clear, b) sell, c) be grammatically correct and d) be optimised for internet searches, I cannot design banners, logos or icons, edit images or fiddle around with html. We have very different jobs, and you need both of us for a kick-ass website. So, if you've got your designer but need a copywriter to transform your web content, get in touch with us today! Sorry for the cheesy quote this week, but being self-employed, sometimes you need something inspirational to keep you muddling through.
So for all my fellow freelance copywriters, designers, tradesmen or crafty friends, it's important to remember you won't get anywhere if you don't try! Keep having a go, and you'll soon reap rewards.
