There's a fine line between writing promotional copy to sell a product or service and just making stuff up to make the brand sound better.
I always veer on the side of caution and honesty, and if it can't be backed up with evidence, I leave it out of my copy. A good copywriter will be able to make other areas of your business shine without having to touch on something that might be dishonest. It's my birthday today, so I thought I'd pick a quote that was relevant both professionally and personally!
On a business level, I have found it really useful to have former colleagues and friends in the industry who have been able to pass on my details and spread the word about my copywriting services to those who need it. I have also discovered how helpful networking is at finding new clients and also keeping me company on those quiet days (every self-employed person will know what I mean!). On a personal level, without getting too gushy, I have been blessed with the company and support of fantastic friends and family, all of whom have helped me throughout my life. That's why today I'm spending my birthday with two of my favourite people - my husband and my daughter! I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and I'll be back in business next week, older and perhaps just a little wiser. x x x Mother's Day is fast approaching and I hope all mum, nanas, grandmas and guardians out there will be thoroughly spoiled this Sunday (March 6th). Even if you're not, and you still have to do the night feeds, or wake up at the crack of dawn, make the dinner and iron the school clothes, I hope the one thing you feel is loved - because all mums deserve to feel a bit special on this happy day. That's why I've updated my somewhat neglected Diary Of A Mum To Be blog with a post about my hopes for this year's Mother's Day. "Even if the only handmade card I get are the ones I make myself and our cuddles in bed are met with her jumping up and down singing “five little monkeys bouncing on a bed…”, I will still love every moment." At the end of the day, all I really want is a smushy kiss from my baby girl, a little cuddle in bed and maybe fewer tantrums than usual. That'd be nice! (Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no to a relaxing bath, breakfast in bed or a big box of delicious chocolates though…)
Check out my Mother's Day blog here - and if you like the sound of it and would be interested in having me write for your parenting site, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. |
